GAME EDITOR GUIDE
Arcanum is released with a very interesting extra bonus -- a WorldEdit map creator. This special extra program allows game players to create custom maps and dungeons. Unlike a lot of the game editors or map creators in other roleplaying games, the developers of Arcanum promise that this particular editor will be extremely user friendly.
Any Arcanum player, from expert to novice, will be able to create simple dungeons and fill them with basic monsters really quickly and easily. Adding scenery will not be difficult, because all the scenery objects will be categorized to make it easier for players to navigate and find certain things. With the scenery creator, you can make swamps, forests, deserts, or grasslands -- your choice. Along with the scenery, you can also add and create all different types of buildings. The editor will identify an object that you are making as a building once doors and windows are added to it.
You will be able to go as far as to set preferences as to what level of skill will be needed to open any locks, as well as what time of day or night that a certain street light will turn on. You can do your editing in isometric (or top-down) view, meaning the dungeons can be mapped out in squares, similar to the early RPG days of using graph paper. You can add monsters and treasure to find and be able to adjust their attributes and conditions like almost everything else in the environment. Basically, every tool that the developers had used to create Arcanum will be included with the game in this editor program.
